INEVITABLE TRADE

Inevitable Trade argues that every meaningful choice preserves something at the cost of something else, and that many moral and political disagreements become clearer when those costs are made explicit. Rather than telling the reader what to value, the book asks what follows once an objective is chosen, using long-term human survival as its main test case. From there, it examines causality, values, will, moral intuition, institutions, punishment, rights, cooperation, and social organization, with a focus on trade-offs, uncertainty, hidden costs, and the consequences of both acting and refusing to act.
