The Secret of Abdera is a fictional novel that depicts a Herculean struggle against the Vatican. It follows a man and his grandson, both of Greek origin, in their attempt to publish a book containing revelations about the Bible that could shake the foundations of Christianity.
Angelos Dorotheus, the family patriarch, finds himself hunted by the Vatican after receiving a mysterious, centuries-old book. Knowing the nature of its contents, the Church has no interest in seeing them revealed. Driven by this persecution, the Dorotheus family is forced to flee Greece for Brazil. Years later, when his grandson decides to publish the book, the family’s whereabouts are discovered, and the pursuit resumes.
With Angelos' grandson, Andreas, as the lead character, The Secret of Abdera is a plot filled with mystery, betrayal, death, and passion. The story is interwoven with insights into the history of mathematics, Greek culture, philosophers, and astronomy. From the hidden secrets regarding the book's origin, author, and content to the mysticism and the discovery of an ancient sect of protectors, this novel will emotionally engage the reader from the very first page to the last.
